Fall 2011 Registration:
Fall Term 2011 Classes begin the week of October 3, 2011 Register September 19 - September 30, 2011 Monday-Thursday 2:00pm-8:00pm, Friday 9:30am-3:00pm Classes have 8 sessions unless stated otherwise. Must be age 18+ to participate (except karate). Schedule and times subject to change.
 

Fees:
Cash (exact amount only) or Check. Debit or Credit cards are not accepted at this time. A $10 registration fee is included in the cost of each class and is non-refundable unless a class is cancelled.

Stay in Shape, Exercise, and Have Fun

Ballroom/Social/East Coast Swing Fox Trot, Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, Swing (East Coast Style). Partner required.

Irish Square Dance Have fun learning to dance to lively Irish jig and reel music.

Karate Youth (ages 5-16) Training strengthens and conditions the body, develops character and self-control. Determination+Discipline+Hard Work = Key to Success.

Personal Fitness/Circuit Training Class is designed to zone in on fitness. Class is facilitated by a school trainer. (19 sessions)

Yoga Heal the body, calm the mind, and renew the spirit. Sivananda Yoga. (14 sessions)

Zumba Fitness Popular kind of fitness dance. Have fun and exercise with Zumba.

Cake Decorating Beginning level cake decorating. If you’ve never done it before, you are in for a treat. (6 sessions)

Computers/Beginning: Digital Literacy Introduction to the fundamentals of computing, explains the components of a computer, explores operating system basics, and shows you how to use a mouse, keyboard and the worldwide web (internet).

Computers, Intermediate/Microsoft Word 2007 Overview of the features and functions of MSO Word 2007. Students should be familiar with desktop computers running Windows XP and should understand basic file-management skills. (6 sessions)

Computers, Intermediate/Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 Overview of the features and functions of MSO PowerPoint 2007. Students should be familiar with desktop computers running Windows XP and should understand basic file-management skills. (6 sessions)

Computers in Spanish/Beginning This class is for beginners, covering mouse skills, keyboarding, Internet & Microsoft Word. Curso completo en Español para principiantes, cubrimos el uso del ratón, teclado, Internet, correo electrónico y Microsoft Word.

Creative Writing/Essay/Memoir Learn effective story telling and writing techniques for both fiction and non-fiction from a published author.

Crochet Basic Skills Beginning course. Learn to crochet from step 1 including holding hook & yarn, the 4 basic stitches, increase/decrease and reading patterns.

Crochet Intermediate Focuses on extensive pattern reading skills, textured stitches and international symbol crochet patterns. This is a technique practice class.

Landscape Drawing & Painting All levels of instruction. Drawing and painting will be of different landscapes and geographies. Art is fun! Come learn landscape drawing and painting.

Portrait Drawing All levels of instruction drawing from life and/or photographs. Art is Fun! Come learn portrait drawing.

Sewing Level I (Sewing for Dummies) Learn a lifetime skill. Basic sewing skills are taught including operating machine, pattern layout & cutting, sewing & fabric terms. Limited to 14 participants.

Sewing Level II (Intermediate) This course provides sewing techniques such as darts, zippers, double stitch, topstitching, under stitching, and pockets.

Sewing Level III (Sew Like a Pro) Make a three piece ensemble. Students must have prior sewing machine experience. Learn to make your own clothing, pants, jackets etc. Advanced sewing class.

Sign Language I American Sign Language entry level course. Fingerspelling, numbers, sign language grammar (including use of facial and body expression), sign vocabulary, and basic ASL sentence structure. Introduction to deaf culture and community, including etiquette.

Sign Language II For students who have taken Sign Language I or have a basic familiarity with American Sign Language and know about 100-200 signs. Topics covered will include: grammar, idioms, and conversation.

Steel Drums Learn to play steel drums from an experienced musician. Entry level class.

Substitute Teacher Training Workshop Required for those interested in becoming a substitute in Palm Beach County. See District web site for other requirements.

Adult Education Classes

ABE/GED Classes: For entry into the ABE/GED Program. Classes are held on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30pm-8:30pm.

ESOL Classes: Register to learn English. Student must come in to receive admission ticket before test date. Classes are held on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:00pm-9:00pm.

Citizenship Classes: Register for a class to prepare to become a U.S. citizen. Register September 19 - 30. Class will be held on Tuesdays from 6:00pm-9:00pm for 10 weeks beginning on October 4th.

Adult Education information is available in the Adult Education office from 2-8pm Monday - Thursday. Please visit the office for information concerning class schedule, registration, and course fees.
